Choose a server location around your players.

Start with where people will connect from, then confirm which regions can host your chosen plan. A nearby country is a useful starting point, but it is not a measured latency result or a guarantee that every player will have the same connection.

Map the community before choosing the region

For a group based mainly in India, discuss India and the surrounding available options first. For a community concentrated in Europe, compare Sift’s listed Germany, France and United Kingdom regions. Singapore, Bahrain, Osaka in Japan and Nevada in the US provide other regional choices to discuss.

Those are regional labels, not facility addresses. The best starting point depends on the actual group, so ask where active players are located and when they are online. Do not choose a region only because the person paying happens to live there.

Distance helps explain latency; routing still matters

Latency is the time data takes to travel across a network. Physical distance contributes to that delay, while the networks and route between the player and server also matter. A server region does not establish a single ping figure for an entire country.

If most players live together, a nearby available region is a sensible option to investigate. If the group is spread across continents, decide whose connection should take priority and what trade-off is acceptable. Sift does not publish measured per-region ping figures on its plan pages.

Ask for evidence relevant to the connection

Ask Sift what connection testing is available before paying, and confirm the endpoint and plan the information applies to. A result from an unrelated server, another provider or a different connection should not be treated as proof of the experience your players will get.

If you receive a suitable test endpoint, compare from the connections your community actually uses and at representative times. Keep the testing conditions with the result. This guide does not promise a public test server or a particular diagnostic feature is available.

Separate connection delay from server workload

Network delay and a busy game server can both feel like lag, but they are different problems. More RAM does not make a long-distance network path shorter. A closer region does not make an incompatible modpack load successfully or guarantee that a server has enough resources.

Choose the software and resource allocation alongside the location. If you are moving an existing world to solve a problem, describe the symptoms, who is affected and what was happening. That gives Sift more useful information than a general request for the fastest location.

Confirm the region with your hosting request

The request panel includes a preferred-location selector with all eight listed regions. Choose a region or select “Help me choose”, add the community’s main countries and the server software, then copy the request for Sift on Discord.

Availability is confirmed before the order is accepted. A location shown on the map is not a reservation, and this page does not claim every resource combination is in stock in every region. Use a custom quote when your location and resource requirements need review together.
